Everyone lives within a water catchment, yet few people understand how interconnected our water system really is. As pressures on water resources continue to grow across the East of England, empowering citizens to become active participants in protecting and managing local water environments has never been more important.
Join RAPID and Local Government East for a Water Futures discussion on how local authorities can inspire community action through citizen science, improve public understanding of water issues, and promote a whole-catchment perspective that links people, places and the environment. Through expert insights and practical examples, we will explore how stronger public engagement can support better outcomes for communities, ecosystems and long-term water resilience.
The event will be run in partnership with national water regulators through the Regulatory Alliance for Progressing Infrastructure Development (RAPID), consisting of partners including the Environment Agency, Ofwat and the Clean Drinking Water Inspectorate.
It is part of a wider programme of events that we will be running to support sustained collaboration to help drive resilience, economic growth and environmental recovery in the East of England.
Audience: Leaders, CEX, portfolio holders for the environment, community groups and natural capital/natural environment leads within local government.
