Commercial Services Coordinator

Location: Hybrid – with occasional attendance at West Suffolk House (Bury St Edmunds)
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £37,035 – £40,476 (pay award pending)

Local Government East is offering an opportunity for a commercially minded professional who thrives on building strong relationships, managing projects, and delivering high-quality services to be part of our forward-thinking, member-led organisation. About the Role

This is a pivotal role within our small, dynamic team, reporting to the Head of Communications and Commercial Services. You’ll take day-to-day responsibility for the smooth operation of the Talent Bank – liaising with clients and associates, developing project proposals, scoping consultancy assignments, and supporting our high standards of customer service and financial governance.

You’ll also contribute to our communications work and support continuous improvement across our commercial services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate consultancy projects via the LGE Talent Bank – from initial enquiry to delivery and evaluation
  • Negotiate and manage consultancy agreements, rates, and project terms
  • Maintain and grow our pool of Talent Bank Associates
  • Oversee project and client relationship management, ensuring high standards of service
  • Support commercial reporting, billing, and financial accuracy
  • Produce communications content and briefings related to our commercial services
  • Line manage and support the Office Administrator
  • Contribute to innovation and improvement in our commercial offer

About You

We are looking for someone with strong project coordination and stakeholder management experience, who is confident in a commercial environment. You will have a great eye for detail, a solutions-focused approach, and an ability to work well with a wide range of internal and external partners.

You will ideally bring

  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Business Studies, Marketing) or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience managing projects and commercial services
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including tact and diplomacy
  • A track record of building strong customer and supplier relationships
  • Confidence in negotiating terms and managing commercial risk
  • Strong IT and CRM system skills
  • High numeracy and attention to detail
  • An understanding of or experience within local government or consultancy is desirable
