Local Government East has been running a series of roundtable discussions over the last few years, and this programme continues into 2026/27. These sessions are open to all councils in the East of England and their partner organisations. At the LGE roundtable, you will hear from a guest speaker on each theme and have an opportunity to learn from – and share your own examples of – best practice.
Rough sleeping remains a significant challenge across the East of England, requiring close collaboration between councils, the NHS, housing providers, the voluntary sector and other partners. The renewed national drive to end rough sleeping, including the commitment to offer everyone sleeping rough a route off the streets, makes this a timely opportunity to consider what can be achieved locally. This roundtable will provide an opportunity to consider how councils and partners can work together to prevent rough sleeping, improve access to accommodation and support, and help people find sustainable routes away from the streets.
The session will bring together colleagues from the region to:
- Hear about approaches and initiatives being developed to tackle rough sleeping;
- Share learning about what is working and where challenges remain; and
- Explore opportunities for stronger partnership working.
There will be plenty of opportunity for discussion with colleagues facing similar challenges, to help you take away ideas and learning that could be applied locally.
The session is aimed at Council Leaders, Chief Executives, Directors and Lead Members for housing, as well as council and NHS colleagues with responsibility for homelessness and rough sleeping
