Roma Support Group

The Roma Support Group (RSG) is Roma-led charity organisation. Since its founding in 1998, the organisation has assisted thousands of Roma through a wide range of advocacy and cultural programmes.

Our trainers have years of experience delivering front-line services and developing projects for the Roma communities in the UK. We offer in-house customised training but also organise RSG-based standard trainings for selected members of your staff.​

Some of the areas of our specialism include the following expertise, which is applied in working with individual Roma beneficiaries, external agencies, partner organisations, as well as our research, policy work and publications:

  • Roma socio-cultural and historical awareness
  • Knowledge of barriers, needs and aspirations of Roma children, elder people and their families:

Professional Experience, Highlights and Distinctions:

  • Since 2011, the Roma Support Group (RSG) has been implementing the Roma Engagement and Support Programme (RSEP), which helps statutory and voluntary agencies to respond effectively to the needs of Roma.
  • Some of the services we deliver include Roma Culture Awareness training workshops, support for research, cultural family needs assessment, assistance with parenting assessment and direct work with families throughout the child protection process.
  • We work alongside professionals such as academics, social workers, independent social workers, parenting assessment workers, Youth Offending Services’ case workers, teachers, health and mental health professionals.
  • We can also assist social workers with assessments, parenting assessments and delivery of parenting mentoring programmes for Roma parents.
  • We delivered our  Roma Culture short awareness and training sessions to statutory and third sector organisations across UK, some of the beneficiaries  include: NELFT, Healthwatch, Barnardo’s, Law Centres Network, Yorkshire and Humber Social Services Network, Manchester Centre for Genomic Medicine, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Police (Ipswich, Newham and other), Sheffield Family Court Forum, Nottingham Together, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, St Mungo’s Homeless Charity.
  • Some Universities and organisations which commissioned us include: Institute of Education, UEL, Queen Mary University, Bucks University, Salford University, Health Watch in Waltham Forest, Heriot-Watt University.
