Mike Hammond brings over 25 years of senior leadership experience across both urban and rural local authorities, operating at Head of Service, Deputy Chief Executive and Director level. Throughout his career, he has led major transformation and change initiatives, including developing and delivering a ground‑breaking, nationally recognised programme that fully integrated and reshaped services across two councils—achievements that earned sector‑wide recognition and awards.
Mike’s background spans transformation and change leadership, planning, housing delivery, environmental services, economic and community development, and large‑scale budget and workforce management. His work is characterised by a combination of political astuteness, commercial awareness and high‑level communication skills, ensuring he consistently delivers the outcomes required by his clients.
He is also a highly respected coach, mentor and facilitator, supporting senior executives across the public sector through periods of uncertainty and organisational change. Mike has coached leaders participating in national programmes, and regularly designs and delivers assessment centres for senior recruitment. As a volunteer, he has facilitated the creation of an award‑winning neighbourhood plan that successfully secured widespread community backing for significant housing development, including affordable homes.
