Client Testimonials

“I’ve had the privilege of being mentored by Chris Gill, and the experience has genuinely supported a transformative period in my professional development.
Chris brings a rare combination of deep local government strategic insight and a nuanced understanding of the challenges and opportunities involved in “knitting the fog” of Devolution and Local Government Reorganisation to deliver successful outcomes. This is complemented by thoughtful, provoking challenge, calm authority, and a genuine commitment to my growth as a leader.
I approached Chris at the start of a new role that represented a significant transition from a xxx role into a xxx position. I was keen to make the most of what was initially a one‑year secondment contract, and Chris’s mentoring has been instrumental in that journey. The space he provides, alongside my day‑to‑day work, has enabled me to reflect openly, sense‑check complex issues, and seek support in a way that is both safe and constructive. I am proud to say that this opportunity has since been extended by a further couple of years.

Chris consistently balances thoughtful challenge with reassurance, creating the space for me to step back and gain clarity when navigating complex devolution issues. Alongside strong Directorate‑level support, his strategic, organisational perspective has been invaluable in ensuring my approach is robust, scrutiny‑ready, and rooted in sound governance and strategic discipline.
Chris creates a supportive and trusting space while never losing sight of ambition or standards. His guidance has strengthened my confidence as a leader navigating change and complexity, as I continue to continue to develop my career.
I would highly recommend Chris to anyone seeking a mentor who is insightful, generous with their experience, and deeply committed to developing others.”

His support also allowed me to see what was really important to me and to decide what actions needed to be put in place to move forward” – Senior Manager – Education Sector
