Andy is a versatile, resilient and transformative senior leader with expertise in public protection, counter terrorism, serious organised crime, anti-corruption, covert operations and professional standards. He brings strategic leadership, investigative judgement and organisational improvement skills to complex, sensitive and high-risk environments. Retiring as a Detective Chief Superintendent, Andy is known for his pursuit of fairness and justice, his ability to bring out the best in teams, and his reputation for owning and resolving complex issues. He builds high-performing teams through structured learning, clear expectations and consistent development, using lessons learned to drive improvement and change. With strong problem solving, decision making and risk management skills, Andy has deep knowledge of the criminal justice system and the current threat landscape, informing his critical thinking and leadership style. An upbeat, self-effacing and influential communicator, he builds trusted relationships up to government level. Andy now applies this experience through independent consultancy, investigation, training and organisational improvement work.

Relevant Sector Knowledge

Extensive experience working alongside Children’s and Adult’s Social Care as Head of Public Protection for Essex Police leading and chairing multi agency safeguarding responses and strategic partnership activity. Significant cross sector collaboration with Local Government Resilience as Gold Commander during major incidents, critical events and multi-agency emergency responses.
Designing and embedding structured learning, assurance frameworks and improvement plans that strengthen culture, accountability and performance.

Training/Coaching Programs/Workshop offers

Trained and accredited by the College of Policing as a leadership coach. Active supporter of coaching/mentoring schemes for under represented groups.

Deputy Chair Child Safeguarding Board Southend On Sea City Council
Senior police representative on multiple child and adult safeguarding boards for the three Essex based local authorities. Provided Independent Investigation for Southend City Council as part of Integriguard Consultancy
