Spotlight On Paul Tonks, Commercialisation and Transformation Specialist

“Working with the EELGA Talent Bank team and Council’s in the Eastern region has been a vitalising experience, assisting the authorities to work collaboratively and develop capacity and skills to respond to the many challenges ahead.”

Paul is a highly experienced Commercial and Operations Director, within both the Public and Private Sectors. Starting his Local Government career in leisure, Paul’s worked in education, housing and environmental services before becoming a Corporate Director. Paul believes in developing internal talent, as after all, that’s where the intrinsic value in an organisation lies.

Recently Paul has been working with a District Council to create a transformation plan. The authority has already delivered a great deal of change and has been praised externally for effective leadership. Paul has been engaged to build momentum around technology enabled service delivery, create additional capability and capacity in the organisation, to which they have welcomed an independent challenge to existing processes.

Throughout the project what has been particularly encouraging is the willingness of staff to embrace new ideas, to talk about risk and how they can effectively manage, rather than avoid it, and to look at how communities are evolving both from a place perspective but also in their expectations of government.

Could your organisation benefit from Paul’s expertise? Express interest in contracting Paul through EELGA’s Talent Bank or visit our Marketplace to view his Profile and find out more.

Paul is one of 70 Associates on EELGA’s Talent Bank; you can view their profiles and purchase the services of these Associates using the Marketplace – marketplace.eelga.gov.uk –
