Levelling Up Delivery Partnership for the East of England supported by Government Minister

Published on 5 July 2023

An ambitious levelling up partnership bringing together organisations in the East of England, to work alongside Government, has been launched today (4 July).

The Levelling Up Delivery Partnership will bring public and private sector partners together, with support from Government, to boost delivery of the Government’s twelve levelling up missions.

This announcement follows the launch of a crucial report into the state of levelling up in the East of England. The report, produced by the East of England LGA and the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the region, analysed progress towards achieving the levelling up missions. The findings in the report will be built upon by the new partnership, initially focussing on five priority missions on educational attainment, skills, transport, healthy living and housing. Further analysis will be carried out to ensure full understanding of the issues and explore solutions to tackling them.

The East of England LGA, All-Party Parliamentary Group and other key partners will now work closely with Government officials to further define the scope and approach for the Partnership.

Cllr Matthew Hicks, Chair of the East of England Local Government Association, said:

“This partnership is an exciting step forward for the East of England and will support our communities and places to prosper. We look forward to leading the way nationally in this new approach, achieving true collaboration across central and local government working alongside key partners.”

Dehenna Davison MP, Minister for Levelling Up, said:

“This new partnership is a great example of how collaboration and a shared vision can help to progress our levelling up ambitions at the regional level.  I am really pleased that local leaders across the East of England continue to work as one on these important issues and I am sure that the partnership will make a key contribution to realising the region’s potential.”
