Water scarcity and wastewater management are increasingly becoming a priority within the East of England. While large-scale infrastructure improvements, regulatory changes and new technologies to enable better water flow management are all in the pipeline, at its core there remains a simple fact – we need to work better with water to thrive as a region
In this event, we want to look at what the planning system can do to create better efficiencies within the water system. The Government’s proposed National Policy Framework has left local authorities and local plans with a mandate to act within the space of water efficiency specifically. Therefore, what can we do as a sector to increase standards, encourage lower water usage, and ensure that the water we have is more effectively shared.
An agenda will be forthcoming in due course.
The event will be run in partnership with national water regulators through the Regulatory Alliance for Progressing Infrastructure Development (RAPID), consisting of partners including the Environment Agency, Ofwat and the Clean Drinking Water Inspectorate.
It is part of a wider programme of events that we will be running to support sustained collaboration to help drive resilience, economic growth and environmental recovery in the East of England.
Audience: The event is aimed at senior planners, sustainability leads, locality teams, community groups, and portfolio holders for water management and infrastructure.
