The East of England Local Government Association in collaboration with Immigration Social Work Services Ltd are pleased to offer Triple Planning – Supporting Young People from Arrival Through to Leaving Care training.  This course is for social workers, independent reviewing officers, personal advisors and accommodation support staff who are case-holding and supporting unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC) in the East of England.

Introduction:

Triple Planning is an essential part of any care/pathway plan for separated migrant young people.  Although mentioned in the statutory guidance “Caring for Unaccompanied and Trafficked Children” DfE 2017, there is little or no guidance as to how staff should undertake this important work.

We welcome a multi-agency approach to this work and recommend that this course is attended by social workers, independent reviewing officers, personal advisors and accommodation support staff.

Course Structure:

The course is an online interactive event with a mixture of presentations, videos, quizzes and activities. The course is CPD certified and, once completed, delegates will receive a certificate of attendance which can be uploaded onto Social Work England as part of their ongoing learning record.

Learning Objectives:

This training course will teach you to:

  • Understand the individual components of the triple planning process
  • Develop your knowledge around the triple planning process and how to apply this when working with UASC (both relevant and former relevant)
  • Understand the new rules that have arisen from the Nationality and Borders Act 2022
  • Consider creative ways to meet the needs of your young people within a complex, often hostile, immigration policy
  • Feel confident in your work with young people, putting safety plans in place to reduce the risk of exploitation and destitution
  • Utilise best practice from around the UK and Europe, implementing this into individual care and pathway plans
