Talent Bank Associates Lunch & Learn Sessions

Local Government East is pleased to introduce its Lunch & Learn series providing an opportunity for member councils to meet Talent Bank Associates, learn about their work, and explore how they can support your authority’s initiatives.

This session features Elma Glasglow, who will present “7 Steps to Culturally Inclusive Community Engagement”, offering practical guidance to embed inclusivity in your council’s engagement activities.

Key topics include:

  • Understanding what inclusive engagement is and why it is essential

  • Identifying barriers to inclusive engagement

  • Moving from outreach to co-creation

  • Implementing inclusive and ethical engagement methods

  • Rethinking how outputs are shared

  • Measuring the impact of engagement

  • Q&A session

Who should attend:
This session is designed for elected members, HR professionals, and council officers who work with or support local communities. It is particularly relevant for those responsible for:

  • Community engagement – officers or councillors leading consultations, participatory projects, or resident involvement initiatives

  • Equality and Diversity – staff producing Equality Impact Assessments (EQIAs) or embedding inclusive practices across services

  • Policy and strategy development – those shaping council strategies, programmes, or initiatives that affect diverse communities

  • Service delivery – officers working directly with residents on housing, planning, economic development, highways, or other community-facing services

  • HR and workforce development – professionals supporting inclusive recruitment, staff engagement, and cultural competence across the organisation

This session will be valuable to anyone who wants to improve engagement with diverse communities, understand barriers to inclusion, and ensure council projects and policies reflect the needs of all residents.
