Local Government East has been running a series of roundtable discussions over the last few years, and this programme continues into 2026/27. These sessions are open to all councils in the East of England and their partner organisations. At the LGE roundtable, you will hear from a guest speaker on a particular theme and have an opportunity to learn from and share your own examples of best practice.
The Neighbourhood health framework published on 17 March 2026, aims to provide clarity on the government’s ambition to establish a neighbourhood health service across England as part of the 10 Year Health Plan. Transforming the way the NHS, local councils and partners work together to improve health and care outcomes will require local leadership, evidence-based innovation and honest conversations.
This roundtable will consider: How can innovation bring local government and the NHS together to improve health outcomes in deprived neighbourhoods?
We will discuss:
- The national policy landscape.
- Practical examples from inside and outside the region.
- Evidence-based innovation.
Speakers include:
- Phil Hope, former Minister of State for Care Services and Co-Chair of the Health Devolution Commission.
- Rory Doyle, Strategic Director, Colchester City Council.
- Alison Armstrong, North East Essex Alliance NNHIP Local Place Coach.
- Piers Ricketts, Chief Executive, Health Innovation East.
Who should attend: Local Council Leaders and Chief Executives, Health and Wellbeing Board Chairs, Cabinet Members and Directors for Adult and Children’s Services, Public Health and Housing, Integrated Care Board Chairs, Chief Executives and leads for neighbourhood health, VCSE, NHSE and DHSC in the East of England.
This event is kindly sponsored by Health Innovation East and supported by NHSE East of England
