East of England Net Zero and Climate Change Conference

The East of England is at the forefront of the UK’s net zero and climate change management challenge, with a unique set of opportunities and obstacles. As a fast-growing region known for its sustainable energy generation, productive rural economy and international connections, we face pressing challenges.

From decarbonising our transport and infrastructure, to accelerating energy transition, and future-proofing homes and buildings. Increasing the region’s climate resilience is a growing concern. The East of England is classified as severely water stressed, but demand for water is growing with one of the highest rates of new housing development in the country. If no action is taken, then water shortages are inevitable.

In addition, much of the region is a flat, marshy landscape lying at, or just above, sea level. It is particularly vulnerable to coastal erosion and flooding. According to the most recent UK Climate Projections, the region could see anywhere up to 1.15 m of sea level rise by 2100.

To achieve net zero, manage the impacts of a changing climate and increase our levels of resilience, collaboration across sectors is more critical than ever.

Proudly brought to you by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), England’s Economic Heartland (EEH), Local Government East (LGE), and Transport East (TE), this full-day conference is designed to inspire, inform, and drive action.

Together, we are dedicated to tackling the pressing challenges of a changing climate change head-on. Through collaboration and innovation, we aim to pave the way for a sustainable future by bringing together key stakeholders from various sectors, including government, industry, and academia.
