The Government’s English Devolution Bill marks a significant shift in powers and responsibilities away from central government towards local areas, alongside an ambitious 10-Year NHS Plan, signalling a move to a more devolved healthcare system. These policy changes present opportunities for the East of England, with one existing Mayoral Combined Authority and Norfolk and Suffolk and Greater Essex in the Devolution Priority Programme.
Local Government East, in partnership with Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority and Huntingdonshire District Council, is hosting an event focused on supporting regional leadership to maximise the potential of devolution across the East of England. Devolution is a vehicle for driving both sustainable growth and healthier communities.
Building on strong foundations of collaboration in the East, this event will bring together local council and health leaders, and regional partners to explore:
- Shared priorities and opportunities of devolution for driving greater sustainable growth and healthier communities.
- Lessons learned from Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority and Strategic Authorities outside the region for effective local partnerships and relationships with central government.
- The potential of the emerging Strategic Authorities in the region to improve outcomes for communities.

This event is for Local Government Leaders, Chief Executives, Directors, Portfolio Holders, NHS Integrated Care Board Chairs, Chief Executives and Senior Officers, DHSC, MHCLG, East of England MPs, and regional growth and health partners in the East of England.
This is part of LGE’s offer of support to local councils and partners as they navigate the changes associated with English Devolution and Local Government Reorganisation.
