Introduction:

This training will upskill practitioners who are/will be undertaking/overseeing Brief Enquiries as part of their role.  This is a live event delivered using presentations, videos, quizzes and external resources that will support delegates in their day-to-day work.  Delegates will be invited to participate in group discussions and activities and feed this back to the wider group.

Course Content:

The course focusses on equipping social workers with the case law, guidance and best practice principles when responding to spontaneous arrivals. Throughout the course we will examine the different pathways of spontaneous arrival referrals, explore the most recent case law judgments and why Local Authorities should consider developing a specific policy to manage these referrals.

Course Structure:

The course is an online interactive event with a mixture of presentations, videos, quizzes and activities with opportunities to ask questions throughout.  This is CPD certified course and once completed, delegates will receive a certificate of attendance, which can be uploaded onto Social Work England as part of their ongoing learning record.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of the course, learners will:

  • Understand the different referral pathways for spontaneous arrivals,
  • Be up to date with the most recent case law judgements on this subject,
  • Understand best practice principles in assessing needs and thresholds.
