EELGA report: Income Generation for Councils in the East of England

Published on 15 December 2022

Income generation is vital for councils to be able to continue the delivery of important services for their communities. Additionally, it is required for authorities to ensure financial sustainability.

With limited funding from central government, councils are required to generate their own income to fund their crucial services.

The EELGA report identifies the need for central and local government to work together through a re-invigorated and re-energised partnership.

Stable funding solutions, support for councils which recognise and invest in Community Wealth Building, and greater incentives for projects which support local economical regeneration, are among suggestions from EELGA to all partners.
