East of England All Party Parliamentary Group Holds First East of England Regional Tour

The East of England APPG Group is embarking on its first regional visit on Friday 13th September 2019, focusing on ‘Sustainability and the Circular Economy.’ The APPG will visit Anglian Water’s Water Recycling Centre and Wetland at Ingoldisthorpe and British Sugar’s Riverside Glasshouse at Wissington. The East of England LGA will be joining this visit.

The next meeting of the APPG will focus on infrastructure for innovation and inclusion. This is a joint meeting of the East of England APPG and the APPG for the UK’s Innovation Corridor. Following the successful Westminster launches of both the East of England submission to the 2019 Budget and Spending Review and Industrial Strategy Prospectus of the UK’s Innovation Corridor, the two Groups are coming together to focus on the key infrastructure priorities that can deliver both innovation and inclusion, thereby ensuring that the potential to deliver a more productive and prosperous economy is realised.

As we look beyond Brexit, parliamentarians, council leaders, businesses and other important stakeholders will discuss what is needed from the Government to deliver a fully firing engine for growth, benefitting both the Exchequer and communities across the East of England and along one of the most vital corridors in the UK.

This meeting, due to take place on 10th September, was postponed due to the prorogation of Parliament. It is expected that the meeting will be reconvened in late October or early November.
