Specialisms

I specialise in the following areas:

  • Career Coaching
  • Leadership Coaching

Dawn is a professionally qualified and experienced Executive Coach and an accredited Career Consultant. Having enjoyed a successful 25‑year commercial career in banking (including 17 years in London) and in higher education within HR, she established her coaching and consulting business, Dawn Newey Coaching, in 2008.

She specialises in Executive Coaching and Career Transition Coaching, supporting organisations through change to develop their leadership capability and talent, as well as supporting individuals at risk of redundancy to secure new roles and pursue their chosen careers.

Dawn draws on 25 years of extensive commercial experience—spanning operational roles, risk management, project and change management, HR and people development—alongside strong leadership and management skills to enhance her coaching and mentoring practice.

She shares a range of practical tools and techniques that can be adapted and applied across settings to support leadership development and embed learning.

Dawn’s clients have described her as passionate about her work, inspirational, motivational, commercially astute, results‑focused, pragmatic, and supportive while providing an appropriate level of challenge. They consistently note that she is easy to get on with, instils confidence, brings out the best in others, and helps people feel good about themselves.

Testimonials/Case Studies

Paul Lowis, Learning & Development Manager, Leicestershire County Council:

“I commissioned Dawn to deliver an Executive Coaching Programme pilot for senior leaders (Directors, Assistant Directors, Heads of Service) within Leicestershire County Council. Feedback from the initial pilot was excellent and resulted in two further cohorts being commissioned between 2021 and 2023. Dawn has supported a total of 23 senior leaders to develop their confidence, leadership/management skills and advance their careers during each of their 6 session coaching programmes. Participant feedback regarding Dawn’s professionalism, experience, coaching style, practical models shared and overall value delivered has been hugely positive. Personally I have found Dawn brilliant to work with and a consummate professional. I wouldn’t hesitate to engage her again to deliver future Executive coaching programmes, should the opportunity arise.”

Matt Selwyn Smith, Managing Director The Education People:

“I was fortunate enough to have some Executive coaching from Dawn recently. She was motivational, thought provoking and the sessions were a fantastic time for me to stop the wheel and think about my role, my behaviour and my goals. I genuinely feel a better leader for the work we did together on my self-awareness and decision making, and I apply strategies she taught me weekly in senior settings. I’d thoroughly recommend Dawn to anyone looking to grow as a human.”

Vivienne Robbins (nee Parish), Director of Public Health and Communities:

“I would thoroughly recommend Dawn for any senior leader that is looking to progress key areas of development in a professional, objective and supportive forum. Dawn is an extremely experienced and approachable coach who builds rapport quickly enabling effective use of all coaching sessions. I also found her MBTI experience very insightful when reviewing my own performance. I will definitely be contacting Dawn for coaching again in the future. Thank you Dawn!”

Ann Carruthers, Director of Environment and Transport, Leicestershire County Council:

“Dawn was truly inspirational in helping me think differently about my leadership journey. I found the sessions incredibly valuable use of time in a very busy day with the gift of time to think and explore. Dawn made it a motivational, productive and enjoyable experience!”

Cheryl Davenport, Public Sector Executive:

“I highly recommend Dawn who I have worked with on several occasions over the years. I first met Dawn when she provided leadership development for the Executive Team of an NHS Trust. I followed this up with some coaching and most recently she provided an MBTI workshop for the “Lightbulb” project team – an inter-agency team who are transforming housing support in Leicestershire as part of our Health and Care Integration Programme. Dawn is great to work with. She is down to earth, incredibly supportive and is clearly passionate about using her expertise to help teams and individuals learn more about themselves, so they can take their performance to the next level.”

Sheena Wilcox, Career Transition Partnership (CTP) Centre Manager, MOD Cottesmore:

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Dawn for over 14 years in her role of an Associate CTP Facilitator.  Dawn is professional, engaging & dedicated in supporting military service leavers during their early steps of transition into civilian working life.  She is accomplished in the delivery of both classroom & web-based workshops of groups up to 20 of all abilities.  Whilst Dawn is highly skilled & qualified in her field, she also has a caring & supportive nature earning the trust of her students therefore empowering them for their next steps of resettlement transition.”
